Here at the office we are preparing for the birth of Jesus by focusing on the journey to Bethlehem. In the front office the animals and the shepherds are waiting, while the Wise Men are slowly making their way through the offices towards Bethlehem. Each day a new footprint challenging staff members who pass to prepare themselves for Jesus' coming are posted up as we follow the Wise Men. What are you and your staff doing to prepare for Jesus' coming?

An REC sent me this wonderful idea that her kids have loved - drawing on foil (picture on the right). She also talked to the early years students about what presents they would give
After telling the story of the Annunciation, I asked the students to draw the movie they saw in their head and then we scribed their response. Loved this one!
Well done to the desert school whose students knew the responses to the Angelus while I was doing the Godly Play script for the prayer! No other school has joined in like that before. The Bishop would be very pleased!
This is the resource Sr Nola was talking about that was really helpful with music for Bible stories. It's available from Koorong.
Loved this idea in a K/PP class... To help scaffold compliments given to the PAThS Kid of the Week, cards with picture cues were distributed in the centre of the community circle.
One of the Desert schools is making explicit the use of EAL/D in their prayer through the use of signs around the school with the Sign of the Cross in the local Kukatja language.
I know all of the Kimberley schools are considering how to use their students first language/s to help them learn. This is as important in RE as it is in any other learning area. At one of the schools I visited, one of the teachers showed me this book their class had made of the 10 Commandments. As you can see from the images, the students wrote the commandments in SAE and in Aboriginal English and then illustrated them. What other ways can you think of using EAL/D strategies in the RE classroom?
An RE teachers in one of our schools showed me this activity she did with her students. After discussing how good and bad choices make us feel, students collaged and graffitied heart shapes with their ideas of good and bad choices.
